Consuelo castiglioni has brought the marni man to the runway for the first time ever. the collection centres on a few key pieces, like a loose pair of trousers with a turned up waist and cut above the ankle, and a shirt with a pointed collar. the colours are deep and contrasted, whereas the abstract prints stay true to the brand’s original aesthetic, established with womenswear 20 years ago. the fabrics have been carefully chosen and mix well. this collection blends sportswear with sartorial elegance, for example a rumpled suit with a stand-out strip of colour on the back. for the milan fashion week, the designer has brought a splash of modernity to menswear. castiglioni has established his place in the renzo rosso group, already prominent in the menswear industry with dsquared 2, diesel and maison margiela. renzo rosso it’s an incredible step for us. it’s our first official show. we are very excited, we are very happy that we are starting to break into menswear because marni started out with just a female line. so it’s just the beginning. what makes me incredibly happy is the style behind this this man, this line. it is very innovative, very unique, i think it’s going to be well received by the world fashion market. the modernity is in the silhouette we have created, of course, but it is especially in the colour, the very warm attitude of the colour combinations we have chosen, that allow for the man not to be sad anymore, allow him to go beyond grey or black. it makes the man warmer, more alive, with little touches of colour or beautiful prints. it makes marni very accessible. music from the show
