Yu Nagaba's illustrations are deceptively simple line drawings that convey plenty of information and emotion in just a few strokes.

Now, the Japanese illustrator has teamed up with Japanese clothing brand Beams on a collection of seven exclusive T-shirts and long-sleeved tops. Nagaba has previously worked with Popeye and Wired magazines, as well as commercial clients including Panasonic and Beams themselves.

The new T-shirt collection will be unveiled in London on March 10 at the Goodhood store, the hip Shoreditch-based fashion and lifestyle retailer that recently launched a unisex collaboration with Clarks. The in-store installation will also show twelve brand new artworks by Nagaba, which will remain in the Goodhood store until March 21.

"For this event, various genres have been turned into motifs, with a focus on drawings representing culture. This is just the kind of design you would expect— it is charming, captures the various characters’ distinctive features, and gives you a strange sense of deja vu!" Beams says.

Among the T-shirt motifs is a playful depiction of a punk rocker, as well as drawings of hip hop fans and Venus on a skateboard in a baseball cap. The collection is also available to buy from Beams online.
