Saint Laurent opens in Tokyo its largest store worldwide

Published
Dec 2, 2015

Saint Laurent is set to open its first full store in Japan, currently also heralded as the label's largest store worldwide. It is located in Tokyo on super chic Omotesando Avenue, at 4-3-10 Jingumae, Shibuya-Ku, and extends over 705 m².

This is a major project for the Parisian fashion label. Until now Saint Laurent was distributed on the Japanese market only through multi-brand stores, through a retail corner which focuses on accessories, and in the last year also via a 240 m² temporary store, this too located in the same neighbourhood.

Saint Laurent's Tokyo pop-up store will close on Saturday as a new store takes its place

The temporary store, which featured the label's ready-to-wear and accessory lines for menswear and womenswear, will close on Saturday 5th December, the opening day of the new Saint Laurent store. The latter will host the French label's full range, from men's and women's ready-to-wear collections to accessories.

The interiors follow the concept developed by Creative Director Hedi Slimane. They are inspired by a modernist mindset and by French-style Art Deco, revisited with a contemporary mood and characterised by veined marbles, mirror features, wooden shelves and metallic structures which mark the space with a highly geometric rigour.

Hedi Slimane joined the Maison in 2012 and initiated the label's re-branding project. The latter encompasses the collections, website, logo and the new store concept, which has now been applied to over 90 Saint Laurent stores worldwide, between renovations and new openings.
