Saint Laurent empties its Instagram account

Published

In a digital era, kills are quick and painless. All you have to do is delete your photos and profile from the Internet and social media, and it’s like you never existed. That’s what happened to Hedi Slimane with his old company anyway.

Saint Laurent's Instagram account only has one photo now - Instagram

With a simple click, Saint Laurent made all the photos recounting the work of its former artistic director disappear on the fashion house’s Instagram account.

The execution took place in the wake of Anthony Vaccarello's nomination, who is succeeding Hedi Slimane. The result: an almost pristine white page (a rarity on the web), where now only the official portraits of the new artistic director can be found.

A nice communications operation which did not fail to create a buzz on the web, with many of the house's 390,000 Instagram subscribers reacting, some with bitterness against the “clean up".

Rest assured, the fashion house did not take the same extreme measure on its Twitter account, granting Hedi Slimane a virtual reprieve… The page along with the designer's entire digital heritage at Saint Laurent is indeed still intact. An oversight a well calculated communications strategy?
