Milano Unica confirms preview event in July
At the opening of Milano Unica, currently under way in Milan, the Italian textile trade show's organisers confirmed that the second edition of Prima MU, the event dedicated to fabric manufacturers' pre-collections they launched in July 2015, is going ahead.
Indeed, as reported by FashionMag, the show's second edition is scheduled for 6th and 7th July, the same dates of the analogous event which Première Vision will be launching next summer.
"We are very sorry that the two events will be overlapping," said Milano Unica’s President, Ercole Botto Poala. He mentioned that he chose those dates before the French show organiser launched its initiative.
"We must be more cohesive and determined," criticised Claudio Marenzi, the President of Sistema Moda Italia (SMI), the association of Italian fashion and textile industry companies, explaining that talks had been started with a view to holding Prima MU in July still, but in Florence, at the same time as Pitti Filati, the Pitti Immagine show dedicated to yarns.
"Sadly however, we never manage to see our projects through to the end," he lamented. Prima MU will thus be held in Milan at the Fieramilanocity city-centre exhibition hub, at the same time as Anteprima, the pre-collection show for Lineapelle, the event dedicated to leather, which will be hosted in an adjoining pavilion.
"I believe it would be better if there was only one fabric preview event, to be held in Italy, to provide a foretaste for those working on our products, then still in the evolutionary phase. The Paris event, on the other hand, is more targeted to the market," said Andrea Cavicchi of textile company Furpile Idea.
