Margaret Howell's MHL to join Coal Drops yard line-up

MHL by Margaret Howell is the latest name to be confirmed for Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross with the giant retail development that's due to open this autumn being one of the most interesting of recent years as far as its brand line-up is concerned.

Margaret Howell's MHL will open at Coal Drops Yard

The MHL line’s debut there will be the first store opened for the brand in London since 2013 and will complement its two existing locations in Marylebone and Shoreditch.

As those two stores illustrate, the brand is very selective about the neighbourhoods in which it opens and refers to go for more intimate, quirky options rather than the biggest London shopping streets, and Coal Drops Yard certainly fits that description.

The new store will sit within two arches adjacent to the Regent’s Canal and will offer both menswear and womenswear to shoppers when it opens this autumn.

The MHL line is an extension of Howell’s mainline men’s and women’s offer but with the focus on “thoughtfully constructed basics and sportswear.”

And its consequent appeal to a youthful, mainly Millennial consumer, means Coal Drops Yard should be a good location for the label. In the new development, it will be surrounded by a number of complementary brands such as Paul Smith, Form + Thread, Lost Property of London, Emin & Paul, Cubitts, Wolf & Badger, and Beija London.
