Barbie partners with MSGM Kids for SS17 capsule collection

The Italian label has teamed with Barbie for a ready-to-wear clothing collection for girls aged from two to 12. The "Barbie by MSGM" collection will be released for the spring/summer 2017 season in Italy and worldwide.

Inspired by the MSGM women's ready-to-wear collection, the 30 pieces in this girl's capsule channel the season's key trend with relaxed yet chic inspirations that draw on sportswear and streetwear styles.

"The Barbie by MSGM Kids girl is cool, current and vibrant, looking to make a statement and stand out from the crowd," said Ruggiero Desantis, Creative Director of MSGM Kids. "We wanted to bring those aspects to life through the collection and infuse action with style in the summer 2017 capsule collection."

The result is a capsule collection that focuses on comfort and girly style, using technical fabrics, bright colors, bold branding and eclectic prints. Colors range from pink -- Barbie's signature shade -- to black, silver, gray and white, with garments made from MSGM Climalite technical fabric, as well as Lycra, sweater and jersey.

The world's most iconic doll has a long track record of inspiring fashion designers and labels. Barbie has been made over with looks from big-name designers and fashion houses on numerous occasions (Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Sonia Rykiel, Karl Lagerfeld). She has even been treated to unique creations from high-end jewelry brands (Boucheron and Bulgari, for example).

The "Barbie by MSGM Kids" collection will launch at the Pitti Bimbo international children's wear fair, which kicks off June 23 in Florence, Italy, and will complement the main MSGM Kids spring/summer 2017 collection.
