Authentic Brands and Bombas to launch Muhammad Ali sock collection

Authentic Brands Group and sock company Bombas announced this month a multi-year partnership for the Muhammad Ali brand.

The Muhammad Ali x Bombas collection will draw inspiration from Ali’s quotes and images, as well as his personal style in and out of the ring. The new partnership will celebrate the legacy and contributions of the late, great athlete, activist and humanitarian.

“Muhammad Ali is not only an icon for his athleticism, but also for his charitable efforts,” says David Heath, Co-Founder of Bombas. “His devotion, perseverance and generosity have served as long-time inspiration for us, and we are proud to introduce a partnership that celebrates his greatness, both in the ring and in the community.”

Heath and Randy Goldberg co-founded Bombas in 2013 after learning that socks are the most requested clothing item at homeless shelters. Bombas donates a pair of specially designed socks to those in need for every pair of socks purchased. To date, the sock company has donated 2 million pairs globally.

Bombas is the latest brand to partner with the Muhammad Ali brand since ABG acquired the Muhammad Ali Estate in 2013. In 2015, Under Armour produced a Muhammad Ali collection featuring the athlete’s image and quotes, and in the following year, Tag Heuer released a special edition tribute version of the Carrera Calibre 5 Ring Master in honor of Muhammad Ali.

In addition, Shinola partnered with the Muhammad Ali Center to produce the third watch in the Great Americans Series, and a limited edition bike, ‘Cassius Clay’ sweatshirt, jump rope, leather boxing gloves, a Sleepy Jones boxing robe, paperweight and two tribute books.

The Muhammad Ali x Bombas collection is slated to launch in fall 2017.
