Luxury made in Italy accessories brand Zanellato, renowned for the trendy Postina and Nina Zanellato handbags, has opened its first-ever store, at Via Bagutta 11, Milan, a historic street in the city's central fashion district.

The sophisticated interiors were designed by architect Francesco Marzocca, and feature a range of colours - bronze, ecru and green, replicating some of the decorative elements of the building's façade. The display system showcases the brand's creations along one of the walls, by means of a series of screens inspired by theatre wings and tall, made-to-measure columns. The furniture consists also of cotton and silk-upholstered chairs and bronzed metal elements, custom-made for the fashion label.

The opposite wall instead features the brand's limited editions, made exclusively for the Milan store and updated every two months.

To begin with, the label's founder and Creative Director Franco Zanellato has drawn inspiration from nature. He devised a special, one-of-a-kind version of the Nina Zanellato handbag: the image of a pink buttercup - popularly known as 'botton d'oro' (golden button) - was split up and featured on four Nina Zanellato handbags, in a limited and numbered edition made with innovative Pura leather. This is a type of leather obtained using a metal-free tanning method and developed in harmony with nature, fully respecting both humanity and the environment.

The Postina handbag is instead featured in one unique piece, entirely made in python skin and peculiarly silky to the touch.

The Milan store also showcases Zanellato's 'Piccoli Complementi' (small leather accessories) as well as the new rigid bangle collections.

"In 2011 we staked our reputation on the Postina handbag, which quickly became a case history in the luxury accessories world. Thanks to the success of the Nina handbag and the men's line, and also to the company's research work in the field of metal-free leather, such as the Pura leather, Zanellato has become a full-range accessories brand," said Franco Zanellato.

The store's inauguration on 21st April will be marked by a cocktail party transforming the entire Via Bagutta into a garden in full bloom. It comes a few days after the opening of a retail corner at Milan's La Rinascente department store.

In 2016 the Vicenza-based company is expecting to reach a revenue of €11.5 million, up from the previous year. Zanellato is currently available in Italy in more than 100 selected multi-brand stores, as well as in stores and department stores throughout the rest of Europe and Asia (Japan and South Korea).
