Yeezy Gap launches surprise TV commercial
The commercial, which also doubles as a music video, made its debut Monday night on ESPN during the college football national championship game. Throughout the video, the Yeezy Gap Hoodie in black was on display.
The brand said that the video was a “seamless alignment between multidisciplinary artist Ye’s creative platforms.”
Gap struck a 10-year deal with Ye to create the Yeezy Gap line in June 2020, with the goal to bring a more accessibly-priced version of Ye's famed brand to consumers around the world. The 100 percent cotton, double-layer hoodie, was the second item from the Yeezy Gap collection that dropped, in September. It followed the June drop of Ye’s debut product, a $200 puffer jacket.
The rapper has been seen wearing the hoodie in both the black and blue color ways since he first announced his partnership with the retailer. It is available for purchase in both blue and black, and retails for $80.
The commercial launch follows the announcement made on Friday that Kanye West and Balenciaga are teaming up for a collaboration for the Yeezy Gap line. Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga is expected to drop in June, with a second planned for later in the year.
