British retail chain Marks & Spencer continues to struggle with its fashion section, as womenswear director Frances Russell exits the business. Jo Jenkins, director of lingerie and beauty, will now add womenswear to her responsibilities, reported Drapers.

The news come less than a month after the retailer announced the departure of John Dixon, the head of Marks & Spencer's non-food division. He was replaced by Steve Rowe, and Drapers understands Rowe wants to tighten up the management structure following a review.

A spokeswoman for M&S said: “We are pleased to promote Jo Jenkins into the expanded role of director of womenswear, lingerie and beauty. She has a wealth of experience, with excellent product knowledge and great customer understanding."

“Frances Russell has left the business. We’d like to thank her for her significant contribution to M&S and wish her all the best for the future.”

Russell had been with M&S since 2008 and previously worked as brand director for Burton and Evans at Arcadia.
