Van de Velde now knows who will be its next skipper. The Belgian lingerie group (Prima Donna, Marie Jo, Andres Sarda, Rigby & Peller, etc.) was informed a few weeks ago of the resignation of its CEO of 12 years, Ignace Van Doorselaere. The group is turning over a new leaf, and Erwin Van Laethem is taking over.

Belgium-born Van Laethem, 52, is the former CEO of Dutch energy provider Essent. He will start in his new role at Van de Velde on 1st September. There will be a transition period of several weeks or even months, during which Van Laethem will be supported by his predecessor.

Erwin Van Laethem worked for eight years at Essent, while also acting as Chief Innovation Officer for the RWE group (to which Essent belongs). In that period, he has notably set up a series of sites dedicated to digital business models. Prior to 2008, Van Laethem held various executive positions at Shell's Benelux branch, over the course of fifteen years.

The lingerie group plans to start on a new expansion phase under his stewardship. For this he will be supported by another new entry, Yan Aerts, who will join Van de Velde at the same time as Van Laethem, as International Retail Director.
