The Theory group - owned by Japanese Fast Retailing – has made two important new hires at Helmut Lang and namesake brand Theory. The group will be welcoming Siddhartha Shukla as chief marketing officer followed by Christ Tate as president of retail and e-commerce, heading up operations in North America and Europe.

Graduated from Yale University, Siddhartha Shukla joins the group from Reed Krakoff where he held the position of vice president of marketing and communication since 2012. Prior to that, he headed up international communications at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, where he met the CEO of Reed Krakoff. Chris Tate held the position of president at James Perse from 2009 to 2013 and was responsible for retail and wholesale at Armani and St. John Knits prior to that.

The hires come at a time of international expansion for both brands. “I believe their level of experience will be an excellent complement to our existing organization and will allow us to accelerate our global initiatives,” said Andrew Rosen, global chief executive officer of Theory and Helmut Lang.
