Texworld features 850 exhibitors and a ramped-up program

From September 15 to 17, trade fairs Texworld and Apparel Sourcing will bring together nearly 1,200 exhibitors, providing the Parisian textile fair owned by Messe Frankfurt an opportunity to offer a more ambitious fair program.

In addition to young designer runway shows, the Bourget fair is showcasing the traditional expertise of handmade textiles and again raising awareness on environmental responsibility in the industry.

Reportedly fully-booked since this spring, this edition of Texworld boasts nearly 850 exhibitors. "Many companies quickly re-registered, some even right at the show, motivated by the commercial success of the February edition," said the fair organizer. As a result, the fair enlarged some of its areas, such as sections for companies in knitwear, cotton, denim, lace, embroidery and shirting.

Unsurprisingly, the fair's products mostly hail from companies in China, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Turkey and Pakistan. But the show also reported participation from Dutch, Egyptian, Italian, and especially Bangladesh suppliers.

For Michael Scherpe, President of Messe Frankfurt France, "the economic recovery, even if it is still a timid one, has renewed exhibitors’ confidence, encouraging them to come back and strengthen their presence at Texworld to attract the European market, which is still a source of opportunity."

Runway shows and conferences

While the exhibitor list is a strong one, Texworld also wants to strengthen the fair as a source of industry information and trend spotting.

The conceptual approach toward trends presented by fair artistic directors Louis Gerin and Gregory Lamaud in their Impulse conference has been drawing a full house for several seasons. The event will again take place this year on September 15 and 17.

The new trend colors from Pantone for winter 2015-16 will also be announced on September 15.

But this fair edition especially stands out for its many fashion shows. Designer François Eymeric will be presenting his Vampires couture collection.

Other shows will feature the work of third-year ESMOD students specializing in knitwear and the three winners of the Fashion Festival in Dinard, with runway shows by Manix Wong, Kyuho Lee/Cecilia Dallançon and Maël Larcher/Marie-Morgane Dumont.

Additionally these designers will present their collections in a special performance space. Manix Wong will also be presenting his Laclos Paris line.

Thailand has been cast in a starring role for this edition of Texworld, with a special government-supported project showcasing the country’s expertise in hand-made textiles. Some 100 silks and cottons made by 20 tambon (village communities) will be on display. These luxury fabrics are valued at 70 to 250 euros per meter.

The fair is also not neglecting the issue of sustainable development. Texworld's Sustainability Days will once again take place on September 16 and 17 with a conference program on certifications, social criteria, the well-made concept, industrial issues and corporate responsibility.
