The agreement with W.L. Gore & Associates will mean that the company’s Gore-Tex Pro Shell, Gore-Tex Performance Shell and Gore-Tex Infinium Windstopper technologies will be used in products in Stio’s hardshell, softshell and insulated categories.

These technologies add wind-proofing and water-resistant qualities to the pieces that they are used in, with Gore-Tex Infinium Windstopper, in particular, promising protection from the elements while also maintaining breathability.

“Partnering with Gore-Tex is a significant step for our brand as it strengthens our premium product range and demonstrates our commitment to the customer who seeks the highest level of protection in their outdoor apparel,” said Stio Chief Product Officer Kelly Hill in a release.

“Not only does this partnership serve our hardshell program, but we’re very excited about integrating this technology into some of our more directionally designed pieces as well,” she added.

Founded in 2011 and currently based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Stio sells its performance-oriented products through its Stio Mountain Studio stores, as well via the brand’s catalogs and a dedicated e-commerce website.

W.L. Gores & Associates works with some 9,500 associates around the world and generates annual revenues of $3.5 billion.
