Deciem is once again making executive changes, this time hopefully for the better.

The Canadian cosmetics company’s former chief financial officer Stephen Kaplan has re-joined Deciem as chief operating officer.

Kaplan left the company in February following a series of executive shifts including the termination of co-CEO Nicola Kilner by founder and fellow co-CEO Brandon Truaxe.

Kilner has since returned to Deciem (July) and has been serving as interim CEO. Kaplan has been back with the company since November.

In October, minority investor Estée Lauder was granted an injunction to strip founder Brandon Truaxe of his role as the firm's co-chief executive, after he decided to shut Deciem stores without notice.

Truaxe had also previously made rash business decisions, as well as controversial public statements, especially on Instagram.

Not long after the injunction, Estée Lauder, which bought a stake in the brand in 2017, reopened all Deciem stores, offices, factories and warehouses. Deciem now appears to be back up and running.

Deciem was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Toronto. The company calls itself “The Abnormal Beauty Company” and features nine beauty brands under its corporate umbrella. The beauty company currently has a growing portfolio of more than 50 products in over 15 markets.
