State of Fashion Arnhem announces dates and exhibition participants
The Sonsbeek foundation and State of Fashion have announced the dates and first participants of the State of Fashion 2018 exhibition. The event, which is held every four years, will run 1 June – 22 July 2018 at De Melkfabriek in Arnhem.
State of Fashion is a platform that unites designers and retailers, with the shared ambition to create a more sustainable fashion industry. This year’s exhibition participants will include Vetements, G-Star Raw, H&M, Zegna, Bruno Pieters, Osklen and Iris van Herpen. The show will be curated by José Teunissen, Dean at the School of Design & Technology at the London College of Fashion, and designed by Space & Matter agency.
The program will kick off with the international Fashion Colloquium, a two-day conference, which is organized in collaboration with ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. The Fashion Colloquium is an initiative by design academies: IFM Paris; Parsons New York; LCF London; and Domus Milan. On the occasion of the State of Fashion 2018, the conference will land in Arnhem. The conference will be open to designers, fashion companies, scientists, NGOs, policy makers and students who will discuss the future of fashion.
Additionally, there will also be a number of activities open to the public, such as the State of Fashion Close to You series, created by fashion designer Liselore Frowijn. The series of workshops, targeted towards young people from the Arnhem-area, will teach them about the value of clothing.
State of Fashion 2018 is produced with the support of the municipality of Arnhem, the province of Gelderland, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, as well as support from Control Union and Teijin. ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten and Museum Arnhem are key partners. State of Fashion 2018 is part of the Fashion + Design Festival Arnhem.
