Shiseido Americas, a subsidiary of Japanese cosmetics group Shiseido, has recently signed an agreement with Alticor, in order to acquire its Gurwitch subsidiary, owner of the Laura Mercier and RéVive brands. In 2015, US group Gurwitch generated $175 million (€154 million) worth of sales.

Laura Mercier products - Laura Mercier

French make-up artist Laura Mercier founded the eponymous brand in 1996. Its product range includes make-up and skincare, as well as toiletries and fragrances. Laura Mercier products have a premium positioning and are available at approximately 1,100 stores in about thirty countries. "Laura Mercier's French-style sophistication is a perfect complement to the positioning of our brands Nars, BareMinerals, Shiseido and Clé de Peau," explained Marc Rey, CEO of Shiseido Americas.

As for RéVive, the brand was founded by plastic surgeon Gregory Brown, and it features skincare products based on the patented Renewal Epidermal Science (RES) technology. Their ingredients help give the skin a younger look.

The acquisition is part of Shiseido's worldwide plan, labelled 'Vision 2020'. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. 'Vision 2020' was devised to boost the group's growth, notably aiming to reach a revenue of €6.8 billion by 2020.
