Rochambeau closes NYFW: Men's with art, music and fashion installation
Rochambeau had the honor of closing New York Fashion Week: Men’s on Thursday. The New York City-based brand held a special event, with a digital art installation and rap performances, to support its collaboration collection with Yung Jake.
This season marked the first time Rochambeau closed NYFW: Men’s. Co-founder Laurence Chandler said that he fought hard for the opportunity to close the men’s fashion week. Chandler also wanted to bring excitement to the week, much like how the preceding fashion weeks in London, Milan and Paris feature presentations and runway show that editors are very excited to see.
Rochambeau held its art installation at Cadillac House, in order to utilize the venue’s digital screens and displays. The screens featured images that inspired the Yung Jake capsule, as well as pop culture references that set the tone and atmosphere.
Attendees that waited in line outside Cadillac House were met with exterior screens that showed footage of Sonic the Hedgehog games and the upcoming Nintendo Switch game Super Mario Odyssey. In addition, Yung Jake controlled the screens with his iPhone throughout the event.
The Rochambeau, Yung Jake capsule collection was available at the event while supplies lasted. The collection that first debuted in Los Angeles for Made LA is an extension of Jake’s art, featuring tribal patterns and technology-related motifs like USB cords and iPhone chargers on t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, shorts and joggers in primary colors.
Finally, rappers Smokepurrp, Smokey MarGielaa and SquidNice performed, bringing the final component of the art-meets-fashion-meets-music event.
