Fashion photographer Rankin is making a surprise career move by launching his debut fragrance.

The British artist has teamed up with bespoke perfumer Azzi Glasser of The Perfumer's Story on the unisex scent, named 'S&X Rankin'.

Glasser took to Instagram and Twitter to announce the news, unveiling a promotional photo of the fragrance's packaging, which comprises a simple and industrial looking glass vial with a corrugated copper-colored screw cap. She also revealed that the perfume will launch in October, with samples available from the department store Harvey Nichols in advance.

Poivre, olibanum, castoreum, leather, jasmine and magnolia are the key earthy notes of S&X, WWD reports. The scent also features touches of Earl Grey tea, Elemi oil, amber resin, white musk and patchouli.

Logically enough, given the name, S&X was designed to be a sexy a fragrance as possible. "To me, a perfume should be sexy anyway, but with this one I wanted to make it addictive and also to leave that trail behind so when you wear it, you walk past and you should leave this essence of a trail," Glasser told WWD. The photographer was an instant fan, telling the publication: "I smelt it and I was like ‘I love it.'"

S&X Rankin will debut at Harvey Nichols and on Theperfumersstory.com on October 1, priced at £95 (approximately $125) for 30 ml, before launching in select retailers in January.
