Ralph Lauren axes Rugby Line

Ralph Lauren Corp has announced that its younger diffusion line, Rugby, will be discontinued followig poor second quarter results. The line was created in 2004.

Rugby was the group’s younger diffusion brand.

The line was sold at the brand’s 14 stores in the United States, United Kingdom and Japan, all of which are due to close. The brand’s e-store will close before 2013.

Rugby Ralph Lauren creates products aimed at a younger, more rebellious customer but unfortunately, the brand was unable to make the expected sales. Ralph Lauren Corp has said that it is now focusing “resources on higher growth, more scalable global opportunities with the core Ralph Lauren brand."
