With the Covid-19 pandemic reshaping the global economy, businesses around the world have had to rethink their strategies, with small businesses in particular being dealt a heavy blow. As small businesses struggle to stay afloat, brands like Pyer Moss and companies like Tapestry, Inc. have been inspired to create relief funds specifically to provide financial assistance.

Now, social media giant Pinterest is calling on its over 300 million users to support small businesses via a new collection on the Pinterest Shop, curated to spotlight sustainable brands and small businesses.

Launched in time to honor the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, the new edit features hundreds of curated and shoppable 'pins' from 21 sustainable and ethical, small and medium-sized businesses across the United States, the company said.

Featured brands include Siizu, an eco-friendly and affordable fashion line; No Tox Life, a vegan body care brand; Ilia Beauty, a clean beauty line; Made Trade, an ethically made and sourced apparel and home goods brand; and Prosperity Candle, an artisan-crafted and all-natural candle company, among others.

Another star of the new edit will be The Little Market, a non-profit and fair trade shop founded by entrepreneur and former reality TV star, Lauren Conrad. To boost the launch, Conrad has curated her own board on the Pinterest Shop, featuring eco-friendly products from The Little Market, including bags and home goods.

The shop comes at a time when engagement from Pinterest users appears to be at a new high. According to the company, Pinterest searches for "support small business" have increased 351% over the past weeks. Searches related to sustainable living are also on the rise, with searches for "eco-friendly living" up 93%, searches for "zero waste products" up 108%, and "sustainable gifts" up 73%.
