Paul Smith has been trading in Denmark for over a year, and will expand its operations in the country with a new 103 sq mt store at Christian IX’s Gade 2, 1111.

The new Scandinavian store is expected to open later this year, said the clothing company in a press release. It will join 236 other existing stores worldwide and in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium and Luxembourg within Europe.

The global brand has come a long way since its launch in the 1970s, expanding beyond clothing into lifestyle categories like a watch line, accessories, shoes, fragrances and homeware. The brand is known for its distinctive ‘classic with a twist’ aesthetic, where classic British tailoring meets modern styles.

When announcing the opening of the directly-owned shop in Copenhagen airport in 2017, the designer and fashion icon said: ““I’ve always had a great affection for Copenhagen because of its wonderful history in design, especially with furniture and objects. One of my favourite designers is Poul Kjærholm and the simplicity of the Danish approach to design makes it such an inspiring place to visit.”
