Pat McGrath has landed a cosmetics collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The makeup mogul -- whose Pat McGrath Labs brand has achieved cult status in the beauty industry since its launch in 2015 -- is teaming up with the institution on a first of its kind partnership for the museum, WWD reports.

Dubbed "Pat McGrath Labs x The Met," the collaboration will be unveiled Tuesday to coincide with the opening of The Costume Institute's new exhibition, "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." On the menu is the launch of a special edition of the brand's upcoming "Lust: Gloss" lip color in the shade "Aliengelic" and a unique version of its "Mothership IV: Decadence Eyeshadow Palette." Both products, which will go on sale at the museum, will feature artworks from its collections incorporated into their packaging, and the drop will reportedly be followed with a limited-edition, unisex clothing series.

"For the Metropolitan Museum of Art to include makeup and makeup artistry alongside some of the greatest masterworks of Western art is truly exceptional," McGrath told WWD. "This limited-edition version of the Mothership IV: Decadence Eye Palette was inspired by paintings of the Renaissance and Baroque periods that it sits amongst, and the new Lust: Gloss shade ‘Aliengelic,' which is making its exclusive debut at the Met, is an extravagantly ethereal gloss inspired by celestial beings and opulent textures I saw woven throughout ‘Heavenly Bodies.'"

McGrath has been teasing her upcoming 14-piece "Lust: Gloss" series via Instagram for weeks with an official release date of May 10, so the early launch date with The Met will come as a surprise to fans. However, innovative retail strategies are one of her strong points -- back in November, she surprised the industry by becoming the first makeup brand to sell beauty products on the music streaming service Spotify in partnership with the singer Maggie Lindemann.
