OTB has boosted its communication capabilities, especially on the institutional front. To complete its communication team, Renzo Rosso's fashion group (owner among others of Diesel, Marni, Margiela and Jil Sander) has recently hired Marita Spera, known for her extensive experience in the field and her international vision.

Spera has confirmed to FashionNetwork.com her appointment as OTB’s chief public affairs and corporate communication officer. Previously, she worked at fashion e-tailer YNAP, where she spearheaded the corporate communication department. Before her stint at YNAP, Spera had not worked in fashion, having pursued her career with various multinational companies in Europe and China.

Spera has a degree in oriental languages from the University of Naples. She also studied at Zhejiang University in China and at Inalco, the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations in Paris. A polyglot, Spera has worked extensively both in China and Europe: first within the advertising and communication agencies of the WPP Group, then for Chinese domestic appliances group Haier, where she oversaw digital communications, public relations and branding, and later for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, whose branding strategy she was in charge of between 2004 and 2006.

She then joined Chinese telecoms company Huawei as head of public relations and communication in Europe, moving to American Express Italy in 2013 to take charge of public affairs and external communication, before switching to fashion and joining the Yoox-Net-A-Porter group. Spera’s knowledge of the Chinese market will certainly be an asset for OTB, currently busy expanding in Asia.
