The images, taken by French photographer and film director Jean-Marie Périer, include a high contrast photograph of Karl Lagerfeld standing amidst a snowstorm outside a mansion in Hamburg, and a portrait of Yves Saint Laurent peering out of a red curtain taken in 1995.

Other subjects in the Designer series include British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino.

Starting his career at 16 at Marie Claire magazine, Jean-Marie Périer has worked for Paris’s top fashion magazines, some of the world’s most powerful brands and with many pop and rock musicians in the 20th century, like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones and Chuck Berry.

The exhibition ‘Designers’ will run from 14 September until 14 October at the Little Black Gallery.
