German eyewear brand Mykita has opened a new store on the ground floor of the Eastern Columbia Building in Los Angeles, a prime location for admiring the Art Deco architecture in the heart of the California metropolis.

The Mykita store in Los Angeles - Mykita

There is a relaxing atmosphere inside the large, minimalistic-designed store, characterised by corner windows and turquoise and navy exteriors. The interiors mirror Mykita's marked interest in surfaces and materials, with a finely structured grey floor, rubber-upholstered counters and engineered-wood panels.

Concrete monoliths custom-made in Italy are scattered throughout the store, creating areas where customers can try eyewear and peruse the collections at their leisure. Among them, the 'Miki + Shades set' limited edition range: a classic acetate aviator model available at the Los Angeles store only, featuring a stainless steel clip-on sunshade, in the Nassau/black or Antigua/polished gold colours.

The Berlin maker of premium handmade eyewear was created in 2003 by Philip Haffmans, Daniel Haffmans, Moritz Krüger and Harald Gottschling.

Mykita currently operates a total of 16 mono-brand stores, in cities such as New York, Berlin, Paris, Monterrey, Vienna, Zurich, Cartagena, Copenhagen and Tokyo.

Its products are sold in over 60 countries worldwide.
