Mobile shopping app ScreenShop launches on iOS

Mobile shopping has become much simpler over the years, and it may get even easier with ScreenShop. Co-created by Molly Hurwitz, Mark Fishman, Ari Bregin, Meir Hurwitz and Israeli technologist, Jonathan Caras, ScreenShop converts screenshots taken on a phone into a digital store.

The new mobile app utilizes patent-pending technology that scans screenshots taken from any app or website and converts them to similar, shoppable items.
“I am all too familiar with the constant frustration of seeing styles flood my social media feed and never being able to find similar products that fit my lifestyle. ScreenShop provides the solution,” said Hurwitz.

Several companies have set their sights on mobile in recent years for both retail and online channels. DVF this year launched a mobile-first point-of-sale designed for its store associates engage with customers, Who What Wear launched a shopping app that offers customers access to retailers and curated products and Destination XL launched an app to help shoppers in stores and on the go. Even Instagram made mobile shopping easier by allowing users to add a 'shop' tag to their posts.
Mobile retail platforms Tulip and NewStore raised $40 million and $50 million in Series B funding, respectively, to grow their mobile businesses. Also, a report from Content Square found that most luxury site visitors enter the website on mobile devices.
With mobile becoming a bigger focus for retailers and brands, it appears that ScreenShop may be ahead of the game for making finding an item as simple as taking a screenshot.

Hurwitz added, “ScreenShop is our way of helping consumers actualize the fashion inspiration on their social media feeds, providing them with an easy way to immediately shop the styles they see and love.”

Hurwitz and the ScreenShop team also worked on the app with Kim Kardashian West, who served as an advisor for the company. She also joined the team as an Early Adopter.
“It’s not a secret that I love social media and the notion of being able to shop from my feed is something I could only dream about,” said Kim. “I’ve been working with the ScreenShop team to help define the concept and shape the user experience for over a year now. I am truly excited to bring it to market.”
ScreenShop is available free to download on iOS.
