Missoni opens new flagship store in Paris

A game of musical chairs is currently be played in Paris between Missoni and Miu Miu, since, as FashionMag Premium announced in May of last year, Miu Miu is taking the place of the former Missoni store on Rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré, while Missoni is taking over from Miu Miu at 219 Rue Saint-Honoré (1st arrondissement), at the corner with Rue Algiers.

The launch of the spacious flagship, which covers over 3,200 ft², with two entrances and two floors, took place on Tuesday.

While the new space employs a concept originally developed by Angela Missoni and Patricia Urquiola for the brand’s flagship store in Milan, with various materials - wood, metal, fabric - mixing fashion and technology, Missoni’s French store still has very unique details that create a true "Parisian spirit."

"I have always wanted our boutiques to be different in each city: in Paris, we used mostly greens and blues for representative elements like oversized zigzags on the walls," said Angela Missoni in a statement. "As for other architectural aspects, (...) we were inspired by the most classical French palaces and gardens," she added.

Future customers will find the Italian house's women's, men's, and children's collections adorning metal structures that seemingly levitate, while employing tones that are characteristic of the brand. Accessories, meanwhile, have been placed in different colored shelves as well as in in modular cabinets. The Missoni house line hasn't been forgotten and figures prominently in the store

For the launch on Tuesday, the shop windows of the new Paris flagship store were given the famous Missoni zigzag, dressed in the pastel colors of the new summer 2015 collection thanks to a video installation created especially for the event by Chilean artist Eduardo Guelfenbein.
