LONDON (Reuters) - Loss-making luxury fashion manufacturer and retailer Aquascutum, best known for its patented check pattern and trench coats, said on Thursday 4 March that two top designers had resigned.

Graeme Fidler, head of menswear design, and Michael Herz, head of womenswear design, have stepped down.

Harold Tillman, chairman and majority owner of 125-year-old Jaeger, and Jaeger Chief Executive Belinda Earl acquired the British company last September for an undisclosed sum.

Tillman acquired Jaeger in 2003 and turned it into a profitable business by extending the brand in accessories and homewares and he plans a similar strategy for Aquascutum.

Aquascutum has dressed British royalty, politicians, and Hollywood stars over its 158-year history.
