Monday, October 23, a star-studded line-up of actresses, singers and fashion icons attended the third InStyle Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, USA. This year, Australian actress Cate Blanchett won the Style Icon Award, but the red carpet showcased stylish, glamorous and chic looks from all the evening's guests.

The little (or long) black dress is still riding high as a glamorous go-to. This was one of the standout trends from the third InStyle Awards, as lots of guests stepped out in the deep, dark shade, sometimes with added glitter for an extra touch of glamour.

Selena Gomez stunned in a black Jacquemus spaghetti-strap minidress, gathered at one side, while Serayah turned heads in an original Versus Versace dress with slits at both sides.

Christian Serratos and Angela Sarafyan also picked black gowns with long cuts, playing with transparency and revealing necklines to glamorous effect.

In total contrast with the various black silhouettes, vibrant colors and bold prints were another trend spotted on the red carpet of the InStyle Awards. Elle Fanning, for example, wore Versace's iconic "Marilyn" dress paying homage to Gianni Versace. Cate Blanchett -- the evening's big winner -- shone in a black and red creation from Givenchy, Ellen Pompeo wore a pink dress by Co, Demi Lovato wore a figure-hugging mauve Alice + Olivia dress, and Zendaya caused a sensation in a tulle color-fade gown by Schiaparelli.

Kate Bosworth gets a special mention, looking divine in a glitter dress with 1980s-style big shoulders and a single blue flower. The actress lit up the red carpet in this Alexandre Vauthier creation.
