L'Occitane launches in-store recycling programme

L'Occitane has teamed up with TerraCycle, a recycling company, to make recycling used beauty products easier for customers.

L'Occitane

The service, available in-store at hundreds of L'Occitane locations across the UK and Ireland, allows customers to bring empty tubes, bottles and containers to be collected and sorted by material composition by TerraCycle. The separated items are then cleaned, shredded, and used to make new recycled products, such as outdoor furniture.

Face mask packaging, refill pouches, soap dispensers, pumps and caps from shampoo and conditioner bottles, hair care containers, lip balm tubes, skincare aluminium cases can all be recycled.

To encourage customers to use the service, L'Occitane will be rewarding people with a 10% off a full-size, full-price item of their choice. Customers can bring products from any beauty brand, not just L'Occitane, to be recycled.

The luxury brand said the partnership is part of its efforts to prevent countless pieces of beauty and skin care packaging from ending up in landfill.
