Kingpins launches European show in Amsterdam

After news yesterday that Denim by PV is relocating to Barcelona comes a second big shake-up on the denim scene. Organizers behind American trade show Kingpins have announced the addition of a European leg of the show, due to take place for the first time in Amsterdam this May.

For Philippe Pasquet, chairman of the executive board at Première Vision, Kingpins is a shows which “does not offer the same service as Denim by Première Vision”. For a start, it operates on an invitation-only basis.

American show Kingpins have been around since 2004 and aims to help build strong relationships between buyers and suppliers. The show takes places twice a year in Los Angeles, New York and Hong Kong and welcomes exhibitors from around the world including Tavex, Swift Denim and Invista. With its European show, organisers are looking to target brand’s based in Holland and Scandinavia.

As for buyers, the trade show attracts brands such as Proenza Schouler, Polo Ralph Lauren, Jones Group, Carhartt, Urban Outfitters, J Crew and the Arcadia group.

On May 7th and 8th, the Kingpins will set up shop in Amsterdam’s WesterGasfabriek, a convention space measuring a cosy 2500m². Amongst partners of the show in Amsterdam are consultant HTNK and association House of Denim. Also taking part of Invista and Bayer Cropscience.
