Kalas Sportswear has struck gold: from January 1, 2017, the Czech cycling apparel specialist will outfit the Great Britain Cycling team, taking over from Adidas.

The partnership will be effective until the end of 2020 and the Tokyo Olympic Games, and will give the Czech brand the chance to ride with the UK team, which came home with nearly everything on offer at the Rio Olympics, winning twelve medals.

Kalas wants to expand in Europe - Kalas

"This is a proud moment in the history of the company," said Jakub Vencek, director and co-owner of Kalas Sportswear.

"It is a unique, exciting partnership and we will be fully involved in developing new products with the British cycling federation, and in creating a new range for cycling aficionados."

Kalas is based in Tabor in the Czech Republic, and hopes the deal will boost its reputation in Europe.

The sportswear brand was founded in 1995 and is already the outfitter of the Czech and Swedish cycling teams.

It offers a broad range of tech wear for the various cycling disciplines, for men, women and children, as well as lifestyle apparel and a range of accessories.

The brand is also an expert at customisation, and produces about 400,000 personalised items per year, both for private and business customers.

According to the figures published for 2014, Kalas Sportswear's Czech business generates less than €10 million in revenue.

However, the brand is already setting its sights on triathlon, and it is openly targeting other sports too. It is currently present chiefly in central Europe and Scandinavia, but it is also available through local websites in some fifteen countries.
