The “J” in J Brand is calling it quits. Jeff Rudes, who founded the Californian premium denim brand in 2004, is leaving his post as CEO according to the American fashion-industry trade journal Women's Wear Daily.

In December 2012, the Japanese fashion giant Fast Retailing Group (owner of Uniqlo) finalized an 80% acquisition of the brand that Rudes had founded in 2004, and which he brought from a denim specialist to a full-blown ready-to-wear company. The involvement of Fast Retailing was meant to develop J Brand's network of stores worldwide.

For a year and a half, Rudes helped ease along the acquisition by Tadashi Yanai’s Japanese group. Now, Andrew Rosen, already chief executive at Fast Retailing of the brands Theory and Helmut, will take over for the interim.

In March, Thimio Sotos, CFO since 2010, also left the company, replaced by Lynne Koplin. Jeff Rudes has not yet made his future plans known.
