The brand has officially announced the release date of November 18 for the capsule collection designed in partnership with the French haute couture designer, titled 'Jean Paul Gaultier for OVS'. According to the retailer's website, the collection will be a playful one, with checks, playing cards and references to kings, queens and bishops some of its main themes. A promotional photo posted to the brand's Instagram account confirms that Gaultier's signature striped Breton sailor tops and caps also feature in the theatrical capsule collection.

The 60-piece collection, which spans ready-to-wear garments and accessories for men and women, will cost between €29 and €149, according to WWD. It will launch online on November 18 before being made available in select stores the following day, accompanied by an advertising campaign shot by Spanish photographer Eugenio Recuenco.

Gaultier, who brought his ready-to-wear line to a close in 2014 to focus on his couture pieces, has collaborated on several surprising budget-end projects over the last few years, joining forces with Japanese retailer Seven & i and with the Australian retail chain Target on a range of womenswear, menswear, childrenswear and homeware. He has also maintained his fragrance lines.

OVS was founded in 1972 as Magazzini Oviesse and expanded throughout the 70s and 80s to include household items, sporting goods, toys, perfumes and leather goods. Recently the brand has worked to cultivate an edgier image, collaborating with designers such as Elio Fiorucci, Costume National and Matthew Williamson.
