Jan 22 (Reuters) - Fragrance maker Inter Parfums Inc (IPAR.O) said its Paris-based unit and Montblanc, part of luxury goods group Richemont (CFR.VX), signed a perfume-making deal for 10-and-a-half years.

The company said the license agreement, signed by its unit Inter Parfums SA, is to create, produce and distribute perfumes and ancillary products under the Montblanc brand.

The deal will take effect July 1.

Montblanc, better known as the maker of exclusive pens, began making pens in 1906 and has since branched out into leather goods, watches and jewellery.

Inter Parfums, whose brands include Burberry, Van Cleef & Arpels and Christian Lacroix, sees the partnership further strengthening its prospects for expansion in the selective perfume market.

Shares of Inter Parfums closed at $11.98 Thursday 21 January on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Vidya Lakshmi in Bangalore; Editing by Anne Pallivathuckal)
