Givenchy goes gold for holiday 2016 makeup

Givenchy brings a Midas touch to holiday 2016 makeup, with an audacious collection celebrating gold through a dazzling play on sparkle, shine and intense color. The "Audace de l'Or" makeup collection is due out in October.

While the festive season is often a time for shimmering, golden makeup looks, Givenchy takes things one step further with its Audace de l'Or collection. Comprising three must-have products, this makeup line is designed to bring out the best in eyes and lips, offering a variety of creative possibilities.

For Nicolas Degennes, Givenchy creative director of makeup and color, gold has a unique shine, a fantasy quality, offering infinite diversity with a multitude of colors, luminosities and intensities. Audace de l'Or lands as the embodiment of this precious and symbolic material, with its reassuring and unbridled notions of luxury.

Dazzling eyes

The collection's centerpiece is the "Palette Ors Audacieux," an eyeshadow quad of yellow gold, rose gold, orange gold and brown gold shades. Packed with shimmering golden flecks, these powder shadows are formulated to bring a dazzling glow to eyes. They can be used alone, blended together or used with a black base.

Lips also get a festive look for holiday 2016, with a new shade of "Rouge Givenchy" in "Rose Audacieux," an easy-to-wear color to flatter all lip tones.

A limited-edition "Prisme Libre Voile Audacieux" multi-tone powder compact completes the holiday 2016 line-up. This features four shades -- a yellow, a pink, a mauve and an abricot -- to mask imperfections and unify skin with a luminous touch.

The collection's three pieces come in luxurious gold packaging that twinkles and shines with shimmering reflections as it catches the light.

The Givenchy Audace de l'Or collection is due out October 2016.
