Gap is facing the departure of its Vice-President and Creative Director Denis Leggett, who has dedicated 14 years to the label and eponymous group. The company has confirmed the information that was published in the American press.

The group's spokesperson is not giving any more details and just said that the departure took place last week.

Denis Leggett left the brand just as full diversification was going ahead. The company also has recently expanded its premium 1969 line and announced new collaborations including one with Stella McCartney.

The group (composed of Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy) saw its net sales in June grow by 2% to more than one billion Euros. However the eponymous brand saw sales fall by 3% in North America in June, compared with the same month in 2009, which saw a 10% drop.
