Frédérique Constant launches new watches inspired by yachting

Swiss watch brand Frédérique Constant has created two new watch styles commemorating still-existing luxury wooden Riva boats.

2016 Runabout collection - Frédérique Constant

The Runabout collection is part of a longstanding partnership between the watchmaker and Riva Historical Society, a non-profit organisation promoting the conservation of yachts designed or built by Carlo Riva. Some of these boats date back to 1920s.

Each year, Frédérique Constant honours the runabout boats with a nautical-inspired limited edition watch, however for 2016 the brand is introducing two new styles.

They combine the best of classic Italian style with the latest technical innovation. Both versions feature a 43-mm case in either rose gold plated or stainless steel, a diamond-hard convex sapphire crystal protecting the dial, and a sapphire window on the caseback.

Only 2,888 timepieces will be available to buy, each delivered in a gift box alongside a miniature wooden powerboat.

Frédérique Constant was founded in 1988 by Dutch entrepreneur Peter Stas and his wife Aletta Bax. The family-owned company manufactures and assembles its luxury watches at its 3,200 sq mt manufacturing centre in Geneva, which also serve as global headquarters.
