Courir has chosen Dubai to consolidate its retail presence in the Middle East. Marking its debut in the United Arab Emirates, the French sneaker retailer opened inside Dubai's Mall of Emirates last month, a shopping hub that attracts 75 million visitors each year.

The new store serves as Courir's 27th location outside its native France. The news comes at a time of new ownership for the sneaker brand, following its acquisition by European investment firm Equistone, who bought the sneaker brand from Go Sport.

The new UAE retail spot, which opened on December 18, is designed in Courir's latest "Wood" retail design and is located alongside Go Sport and covers 117 square metres.

Overseeing the Middle East operations for Courir, local arm Al Mana helmed the latest launch, following a successful debut in nearby Qatar. Since its initial entry, a third store has opened in September, in Doha's Villagio Mall.

In revenue terms, sales at Courir lifted 23% in 2017 to 330 million euros, boosting also the company's expansion in Europe. In December, the firm opened its fourth store in Spain, located inside Barcelona's Diagonal Mar mall.

Founded in 1980, the men's and women's sneaker retailer operates 280 stores worldwide with some 30 points of sale overseas.
