Womenswear retailer Oasis said Wednesday that Michelle Evatt will be joining the fashion retailer as Design Director later this year. She will be moving from Ted Baker where she’s currently Associate Director Womenswear Creative.

Evatt has worked at Ted Baker since 2005, so has been there during that company’s most dynamic phase when it became one of the growth stars of UK fashion retail. She started there as Senior Designer and was appointed Head of Design in 2016, taking up her current role only last year.

There has been major change at senior level at Oasis and Evatt’s appointment follows a review of the Design, Buying and Merchandising leadership team. Huong Su joined the brand as Merchandise Director in January and the retailer is also currently awaiting the arrival of Delia Phillips as Buying Director, who will join the brand in the summer.

Oasis MD Sarah Welsh said of Evatt: “She is an amazing talented designer and leader with a great track record. The impact she will have on the product handwriting is both exciting and strategically aligned with our objectives. Together with Huong and Delia we believe we have assembled a formidable team, and I very much look forward to working with them all”.
