According to Dutch business news site RTL Z, the court administrator is unable to disclose any details on the cause of the failure. Parfois operated seven stores in the Netherlands, which are currently closed, but this might change following a future decision of the court administrator, the news site reports.

Parfois launched in the Netherlands in 2017 and unveiled its first store in Eindhoven in April of that year. The retailer rapidly expanded and opened additional branches in Utrecht, Rotterdam, Amstelveen, Amsterdam, The Hague and Zwolle within a year, with plans to expand to a total of 20 stores.

The brand was not completely new to the Dutch market, having previously maintained a long-term relationship with former department store chain, V&D, where it operated a number of shop-in-shops. In December 2015 the department chain went bankrupt and Parfois became only available to Dutch customers via its online shop.

Parfois was founded by Manuela Medeiros in 1994. Today, the accessories retailer has over 700 stores in 55 countries. Parfois sells accessories for women, ranging from handbags and footwear to watches and sunglasses.
