Parisian concept fashion and lifestyle store Colette has teamed up with McDonald's on a limited-edition clothing and accessories collection featuring the fast food chain's most iconic products.

The Big Mac, the Happy Meal and the Sundae are the lynchpins of the capsule collection, which comprises tees, shoppers, scarves, phone cases and notebooks. The fun designs feature quirky pixelated "pictogram" images of burgers, fries and sliced cheese.

The images were first used by McDonald's as part of a publicity campaign in France last year, with the idea of using images without the restaurant's logo first coming into play in 2013. The chain is also launching a new publicity campaign both in-house and via its app to go alongside the new project.

McDonald's is enormously popular in France, with almost 2 million meals sold every day in the country. It is for this reason that the chain has chosen Colette as its collaborator on the quirky "everyday" food-themed items.

Colette, synonymous with the coolest and the kitschiest of the design world, is a byword for Parisian style. Its other high-profile collaborations include projects with Pharrell and Hello Kitty, while current projects include a line with hatmaker Nick Fouquet and luxury watchmaker Dietrich.

The McDonald's collection will be available exclusively online and in-store at Colette from May 4-31. Prices are between 1 euro for postcards and 35 euros for tees.

€1 = $1.08/£0.72
