During the month of March, consumer appetite was up for Chanel, but down for other brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, according to the latest March Data Report From Rebag.

Searches for the Chanel Classic Flap bag increased by 29.31%, while the Chanel Gabrielle was up by 54.67% and the Chanel Mini climbed 46.15%. Likewise, the Chanel Reissue jumped by 31.40%, as did the Chanel Backpack, up by 25.83%.

Classic investment worthy pieces also proved to be a consumer favourite with pieces like the Birkin and the Kelly bag increasing. The Birkin 25 was up by 35.11%, Birkin 35 climbed 29.29%, and Kelly 25 jumped by 28.88%.

On the other hand, there was a decrease in searches with other brands like Gucci down 55.20% and Louis Vuitton down by 79.88%. Searches for Hermès equally dropped by 22.58%.

In other accessory news, shoulder straps and earrings were the most searched, as shoulder bags are on the rise. Searches for shoulder straps went up by 48.22% and earrings went up by 39.41%, among the other jewelry categories.

On the trend side, bold colors, oversized bags, white footwear, headbands, statement jewelry, wedge heels, and daytime sparkle are the seven trends for spring 2023, according to Rebag.

Bright, bold tones are expected to dominate everything from clothing and jewelry to handbag. Meanwhile, small and modest is out, as more consumers will choose to go big with the size of their bags and jewelry to make a statement. Another bold trend will be sparkles — everything from sequin, rhinestone, and metallic.

A blast from the past is a return of headbands and wedge heels, and for a more modest touch there’s still white footwear.
