Caudalie inaugurates New York concept store and plans further openings in Italy
French skincare brand Caudalie, renowned for its products based on vine and grape extracts and its patented `Vinothérapie’, has opened a 300 m2 concept store on New York's Madison Avenue. The brand, founded by Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas in 1993, has introduced a new retail formula with this `Appartement’, the French word for a flat: its interiors are inspired by those of the founders' Parisian home, and as well as testing Caudalie products, its patrons can relax and enjoy a tisane or a glass of wine.
Caudalie's New York Appartement features four Vinothérapie treatment booths, a lounge inspired by French ‘art de vivre’ with a Louis XVI fireplace, white walls, and light, warm-coloured wooden furniture, as well as a generously endowed library.
"The New York Appartement is the latest of our newly inaugurated stores, the other recent openings being the one in rue des Abbesses, Paris, opened last October,(...) and the one in Bordeaux, opened at the end of December to immediate success," said Andrea Magnaguagno, Caudalie's new Country Manager Italy, speaking to FashionNetwork.com at the Cosmofarma cosmetics trade show in Bologna. The USA is the brand's second-largest market, after France and ahead of Italy, where new store openings are planned in Rome and Florence.
Last year Caudalie launched a new line called Vin Activ, which counters the negative effects of air pollution and those caused by excessive exposure to mobile phone and computer screens. Another two new products will be soon available: the Eau de Vigne fragrance, created by the perfumer who designed CK One and Armani's Acqua di Gio, and a cleansing essence based on traditional Asian treatments.
