Cargos and co-ords are the most popular items of the summer so far, according to new data. They’re the biggest searches  on the I Saw It First website, joining cutout clothing, sliders and corsets as list-toppers.

Searches for ‘cargo trousers’ have seen an increase of over 14,000% this summer, compared to June 2021. Paired simply with a crop top and fresh trainers, “this look can be taken from day to night with ease” the retailer said.

Meanwhile, the site also saw a 474% rise in searches for ‘co-ords’ this month and, according to the statistics, more people will be reaching for the co-ords in their wardrobes than a summer dress this year.

Also, searches for ‘cutouts’ have also seen a huge surge this summer, with swimsuits (480%), tops (161%) and maxi dresses (545%), also seeing a search boost, site-wide.

The brand has also seen a direct correlation with an increase in search terms during the weeks the TV dating show Love Island, with ‘rubber sliders’ getting a 400% increase thanks to contestant Luca’s ‘fish flips’.

An I Saw It First spokesman said: “After seeing the amazing success of Faye Winter’s Black Printed Cowl Neck Maxi Dress from the Love Island 2021 series, which sold out within 30 minutes, we’re not surprised to see that our search terms for co-ords, sliders, cutouts and cargo trousers have skyrocketed, especially as the fashion looks are being paraded on TV screens every single night.

“And it seems fashion does come back around, as searches for Faye’s ‘patchwork dress’ from last year were up by 120% and sales of the item saw an uplift of 360%, since Love Island landed back on our screens.”
