The award was established in 1999 to support and celebrate innovation and creativity in fashion illustration and is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate Fashion, Textiles and Jewellery students at Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion. This year's first prize winner was Maria Poppova, BA Fashion (Print), who receives £750.

The panel of judges included fashion illustrator Richard Gray, who has worked with brands including Agent Provocateur, Givenchy and Benjamin Kirchhoff, Jose Teunissen, Dean of Design & Technology at LCF, and Anne Smith, Dean of Academic Programmes at CSM. They stated: “Maria has developed a unique individual identity with a very personal approach to fashion illustration. She creates a powerful visual message that captures the mood of the outfit through a vibrant use of media and mark making.”

Joo Yeon Kim, BA Fashion Marketing & Design, won the second prize of £250 for her “dynamic sense of personality, communicating an energetic graphic message which echoes the aesthetic of the collection”. Kim has previously won the V&A's Savage Beauty illustration competition for UAL students.
