COS, the minimalist label renowned for its high-end essentials, launched in 2007 by Swedish giant H&M, is set to make its fashion week catwalk debut. COS (the acronym of Collection of Style) will show on September 21 in London, where the label is based, presenting the Fall/Winter 2021-22 collection with a hybrid show-performance.

COS’s models will take to the catwalk while a series of artistic visuals and videos will be screened on-set. The performance will be broadcast live on Cos.com.

This is not the first time that COS is staging an event to present one of its collections. Notably, it called on choreographer Wayne McGregor to launch a capsule collection of timeless menswear essentials at Florentine show Pitti Uomo in June 2018. A year earlier, in September 2017, COS celebrated its 10th anniversary by holding a lavish party at the National Gallery in London. However, a London Fashion Week presence would be a major milestone, COS emphatically entering the arena of labels and designers.

The London show “will mark a new direction for the label,” said COS in a press release. COS was successfully launched more than a decade ago under the creative aegis of Danish designer Rebekka Bay. Since 2016, its women’s ready-to-wear collections have been designed by Nicole Bischifer, while French designer Christophe Copin took charge of menswear in 2017. The label is looking for fresh energy, and said it has emerged from this period of change “with strengthened resolve and commitment.”

“The collection will embody COS's well-known timeless style, while redefining and upgrading its wardrobe’s iconic items,” said COS, announcing a more engaged, inclusive visual campaign for the autumn, featuring non-binary activist Janaya Future Khan, British actress Jodie Turner-Smith and Brazilian model Raquel Zimmermann, alongside other “inspiring” talents.
