Bol.com promotes Olaf van den Brink to Chief Operating Officer

Dutch e-tailer Bol.com has promoted Olaf van den Brink to the position of chief operating officer, effective immediately. Following the promotion, the Bol.com board of directors consists of six members.
Van den Brink joined Bol.com in September 2015 and remains the director of logistics.
Prior to joining the e-tailer, Van den Brink worked in aviation, starting his career at Schiphol Group in 2001 as Account Manager. In 2005, he made the transition from aviation to logistics and held several operational and commercial roles at CEVA logistics.
Huub Vermeulen, CEO at Bol.com, said in a press release: “The importance of logistics for Bol.com will only increase in the future to continue meeting customer expectations. A strong strategic vision is necessary here. We are therefore convinced that a management position for the logistics department will make an important contribution to the further growth of Bol.com and we have great confidence in Olaf in this position.”
Olaf van den Brink said of his new position: “I look forward to continuing to build Bol.com's future at board level. Together with my team and other Bol.com staff, we ensure every day that our millions of customers get the best shopping experience, of which the logistical process is an essential part. We do this by working together with various logistics partners, but also by innovating our own services.”
In addition to Van den Brink, the Bol.com board of directors consists of Huub Vermeulen, CEO; Gert-Jan Janssen, CFO; Jurrie van Rooijen, CTO; Margaret Versteden, CCO; and Boukje Taphoorn, CMO.
Bol.com has been one of the most popular online stores in the Netherlands and Belgium since its launch in 1999. The e-tailer currently serves over 9 million Dutch and Belgian customers. Its assortment includes 16 million items in more than 20 product categories, ranging from personal care products, accessories and jewellery to books, electronics and children’s clothing. Bol.com has been part of Ahold Delhaize since May 2012. The headquarters is based in Utrecht and currently employs more than 1,400 people.
